Hi been trying out a few things with the max developers bits and somehow managed to get an Elephants inside iclone as a Character (iAvatar). The motions still need somework as its hard enough to use the editor for 2 legs but now I have four to try and sort out, but this just gives you an idea of what can be achieved with iclone now
Would appreciate your comments and ideas for Animals. duchess

Hi Duchess, I have not upgraded to 3.0 yet but seeing examples of the quality that can be achieved is certainly tempting me. I think your elephants look fantastic!
Would love to see them once you have conquered the 4-legged motion issues.
Well done so far.

Absolutely superb Duchess. I don't need to know how you did this but I need to know that you will follow it up and make any fruits of labor available to all somewhere. Surely the next evolution of iClone. Well done.

Hi Dutches
That opens up a lot of new possibility for animals, did you rig it with Clonebones or is it a Max rig:cool:

Hi Sifr no it was done with Max, something similar could be made using the clonebones bending and stretching the bones into an animal shape and then trying to attach body part then trying to get the movements right. Still working on fine tuning some motions and creating a few more. Thanks all for the comments appreciated. duchess

Very Nice ! Bravo !
Did you implement it as an avatar of as an iProp and do you have the ability to right click and select Perform commands?
I am trying to get there whith little success so far...
Any help on would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi guy langlois Yes it is an avatar (Character) and yes you can right click and use commands as I created the motions and also the persona enabling the right click option. I was also able to bring it in as an iprop but prefered to keep it as an avatar (Character). The trouble with iprops are that you can only use those set of commands that are embedded into the iprop but with an avatar you are able to completely edit the motions joints etc like any other avatar with the edit joint commands making it fully posable. I am not able to offer any advise at the moment as I am still learning myself and would hate to cause any computer crashes if I gave incorrect procedures. duchess

You are absolutely awesome duchess... no one has animated animals as a character in iClone to this degree that I am aware of. Bravo!

Wow Congratulation Duchess if you have managed this. It could be a a major breakthrough and we could soon be talking to the Animals like Dr Dolittle LOL. I have only managed to make original meshes and put in the the traditional boning rigging. After that I was able to make my own motions up and export from max so these become iProps. I have managed a number of dinosuars doing this as well as the ones below. However I am working on more as I have had requests to do a number of animals. Thought you may be interested to see these :D

Hi Duchess! You are but the Queen of MAX! Your pachyderms look fantastic. I have some ideas on animal design and later I will contact you to discuss the matter. I'm going to give you a hint: You can pair skeletons inside iAvatar and, although they will become a "new" generation they load OK. With an extra set of "arm" bones you can disable the skin to regular arm bones and enable the extra set. In the animation menu you will find means to transfer the left leg motion to the right new "arm-leg" and viceversa with the other set.... Hummmmm:cool:

Can you shed more light on pairing skeletons?

I wanted to take a look at this thread again to see if there's been any headway from any of the max experts with animal avatars. I know Duchess had some early success with avatars on the elephants and Popeye had some good work on animal props. I think it's a great area worth exploring a little deeper so I wanted to bring a contributory thread back into focus on the forum for poignant discussion.
