Attach object to character

Hii

I am new... I got a sword attached to my character in the first frame, i removed all animations whatsoever. Yet when i preview or record a direct puppet motion or even simply play the timeline, the object ( Sword) falls from the character's hands....from the 1st fram when i play. I want the sword to in in hand exactly as i placed it, throughout the movement of character.

please help i am on iclone 5
