There are many folks on the forum who know more about music than I do--some of them being real musicians.
For royalty-free, in addition to sounddogs, try Pond 5, Production Trax, Shockwave-Sound, and Audio Jungle--just 4 off the top of my (bald) head. Those have so many tracks it will occupy you for many hours sampling the wares.
There are many others stock music houses, and I'm sure our producers will chime in.
Another good source is SmartSound software, which has a large selection of tracks, and a few of them are very good.
You can also look at archive.org or creativecommons and see if free music turns up there. Recordings from the early 20th century are now generally in the public domain. Like:
