I would like to see a set of props and effects geared towards scenes set out in the open water or near the seashore.

It would be great to have 3D tsunami waves, 3D rough seas, 2D beach waves, large 3D surfing waves....

Random splashes, like Atlantic ocean waves hitting rocks. Spray particles. Foam particles.

Hmmm maybe not the best time to be making this kind of request. Crazy

Maybe Peter is alluding to the fact that iClone development occurs in Taiwain, and people there may be perhaps more empathetically attuned to the enormous tragedy than are Westerners.

My thoughts go out to all those affected by the tsunami in Japan, and my request has no connection to the disaster.

Okay--- so when will be a good time to ask for 3D water effects?
When Japan has been rebuilt?

The Taiwan news media is FAMOUS for news stories based on 3D recreations, so perhaps my request is not as inappropriate as you Westerners think.

In fact, the Taiwanese 3D animators have already tackled the tsunami;

This is a great clip with a relevant and timely story, it manages to be humorous and tactful at the same time.
Is there content like this produced in iClone? I wonder why not.

iCloners are afraid to tackle "real" stories. (please direct me or correct me if I'm wrong)

If I were a teacher or broadcaster using iClone in my work, I would want access to 3D wave effects immediately -- in order to produce relevent, timely work.

Animators should not be afraid to render whatever reality serves us.

There is no problem making a request for 3D water effects and certainly this will be passed to the development team as always.

I just thought you could have timed it better when saying "it would be great to have 3D tsunami waves" immediately after the disaster had occured.

Sorry about the wording, Peter, but look at the context of my original request-  I included "beach waves" and "surfing waves" in the same sentence as "tsunami"

Please let's not split hairs over wording. It would have been nice to have water effects last year, but the tsunami hit recently and every other animation community is talking about how to how to render tsunami in their forums--

I love this community and this software dearly, but it seems like iCloners are not expected to have the same kind of "maturity" as animators who use Maya and 3DS.

iCloners are like the little kids sitting at the dinner table who don't understand what the adults are talking about.

Hi Jason

I fully understand your point and apologies if it came over that I was in any way angry at your request. This wasn't the case at all and I only commented on the timing of the tsunami request not your overall request for water effects in general. I'm sure we have all been guilty of bad timing at some point. Wink

I guess tastes differ... But, look at the bright side, you could be the one starting a trend in iClone! It's sound bites over reflection...
