Thank you very much Peter for the prompt response! I applied the 5.22 patch and I can now open my projects!
Now I will continue having fun exploring the iClone 5 Pro capabilities as I attempt to produce a few fun animation clips! :)

Hi all,
I know this topic is quite old now, but I've started having this problem too on a large file I've spent a long time working on. This is really frustrating... I have 16 GB of ram (a new machine I bought specifically to get more out of iClone) and yet it seems iClone doesn't like it when your projects start to get a little meaty in size.
My system memory is 80% free (even when it crashes or manages to load the project) but soon after it will crash before I get chance to change anything in the scene or make anything happen. I'm using the latest iClone, Windows 8 is fully up to date... I don't know what to do. This is something the developers need to fix pretty quick, especially now DAZ content is able to come into iClone. This is why my latest scenes are getting larger, but why can't iClone handle it when my compute clearly can??
Does anybody have any tips. I tried reducing texture maps, but it crashes even more. My face and poly count are within the recommended set by 3DXchange. My project file is 180mb which shouldn't be that much of a problem surely, although it is larger than stuff I've used in the past. I feel scammed having spent hundreds of dollars buying the new facial pipeline and 3Dxchange pro when there are clearly some very small boundaries that iClone is capable of handling.
I love iClone when it works, but the thing can be horribly unstable and you end up banging your head against the wall trying to push its boundaries all the time.

don't make large files. If it requires so much detail, you may want to consider compositing in editing software, it will give your scene greater depth and control while having mercy on you in the 3D softwares. I personally don't go over 2,000 frames - if anything i try to stay at around 500 and shoot just enough for an edit of a scene, but never a whole scene.

There aren't any frames yet, it seems to be the props it's having trouble with. I exported a scene that was too big for 3DXchange from DAZ so I split it in two and brought them in as 2 separate props. The thing kept crashing after that, I was going mental with the thing.
Anyway, I did some research and discovered the 64 bit of iClone. I'd reinstalled from my CD's on my new machine, but if I'd have downloaded from my account panel, I'd have gotten the latest version which includes a 64 bit BETA. Funny enough, everything's running smooth again using the 64 bit version. Dunno if it had something to do with me installing from my old CD's and then manually applying updates and patches??
I have to admit though, it still crashes on me quite a bit, it always has... today I'm working with small scenes, no frames, a few props (for a manga I'm making) and it still crashed, even though what I was doing was child's play to iClone's capabilities.

Try this.
Click on Set, then go to custom and find file. Then drag and drop file in as prop. See if this works. It has for me on some pre-5 iclone.

i ran into this issue just trying to figure out how to get my "little rascals" files (which seemed to download and even install alright) , to show up in the application itself. now its got me wondering if a whole bunch of stuff i've purchased has fallen into the same black hole, i'm sure its just me going over to PC's in order to use iClone, man i cant keep track of stuff in windows! anybody know all about it?
