It would be nice if you could place the pivot point of an object anywhere you wished on the object instead of just the three default settings. (Scene Root, Center, or Bottom Center.)

One of the objects I constructed in Blender and ported to iClone will not rotate the way i wish it would. I've tried rearranging the parent/child relationship between the components it took to make the prop, and no avail. Unfortunately, the rotation points are still not quite what I'm looking for. The base of the object sits behind the center of gravity for the prop, but it still rotates at dead center or bottom center, because it is figuring the whole object in the bounding box. I can rotate it, but I constantly have to readjust its X,Y coordinates to keep it looking as stable as possible. The object, without readjusting those two axes, looks more like it is being swung, as opposed to rotated.

Do you use 3dXchange? If you do, adjust the pivot point there before importing to iClone; works every time!

Update:

Cricky, you da' man! Smile I placed the pivot points in the appropriate locations, and WOW! They worked beautifully. I assigned custom pivot points at the swivel base of the cannon, and at the point where the barrels join the mechanism. My swivel base now turnstiles properly, and my cannon barrels have elevation adjustment. Thank you sooooo much! Smile

I did the same thing for the hatches on my landram. Smile

Humbly and appreciatively,
Martok2112

The next version of iClone will allow free placement of the pivot point. Smile
