iClone's MP4 encoding at (HD resolution) leads to an upload failure at Youtube, at least for me. Youtube accepts the video but only plays a few frames, and then plays a still, presumably for the rest of the video length. Note that the same file plays fine locally with Media Player. I find that if I re-encode using Adobe Media Encoders to H264 I can upload to Youtube successfully. Can you please give us a fix?

not sure if this will help or apply, but i find that most sites including youtube are wmv friendly. I think this is best for audio quality as well, all other formats seem to get re-encoded by a sub part system, while the wmv apparently doesn't get re-encoded.

Hi folks! I wonder why Paumanok is having trouble with MP4. MP4 is MP4! Anyway my advise is: Always render uncompressed and save your original the best size possible. Download AtubeCatcher software, (free), which is an EXCELLENT video converter-video downloader and use it to produce sub-sets of your productions, suitable for different environments. (bandwidths). Once you save your nice videos wit a compressed format, you are limited. That's my advice. P.S. If you have NOT noticed AtubeCatcher then you are missing something!!!! I've always found that the best thing to do is render your output from iClone in .WMV format, and then upload it to YouTube. MP4 is really a "portable media" format. (laptops, PlayStation Portable, etc.) WMV is a better resolution format to upload in. Some "download YouTube" apps will allow you to download a video from YouTube in MP4. But to upload, seriously, just go ahead and use wmv format.

Oh no! My advice is to never export anything but an uncompressed avi from iClone. The next step is to take that avi into your movie editor where you can create much higher quality MP4s or WMVs than iClone allows. For YouTube, I recommend MP4s over WMVs. At a later time I can post optimal Sony Vegas settings for YouTube friendly MP4s and WMVs.

I shall have to try exporting into AVI then, first.

Apparition (11/30/2010) I wonder why Paumanok is having trouble with MP4. MP4 is MP4!Actually it is a little more complicated than that. The problem is likely a codec issue because iClone uses H263 for MP4 but the most popular format used is H264. It could be that changes at YouTube now mean that they are not accepting H263 MP4 videos. The best advice at present is to use a different video format or convert your video to H264 format prior to uploading. This should temporarily solve any uploading problems.

Every time I try to export from iClone in .avi, I always get a stuttering video instead of a smoothly animated export. I really don't like .avi.

@M
That's because of the heavy weight of an uncompressed avi for playback purposes. All of your data is intact! After conversion to a smaller MP4 file in a movie editor, your footage should not "stutter" at all.
