Hi folks,

most of you probably use the Sketchup pipeline for 3D text in iClone but there's also another little program that I found recently.

It's called "WCVT2POV" and besides functioning as converter it also possesses a plugin for TTF-fonts. You simply choose a font, write you text and export as .obj.

You can find it here among other programs, like "M3D" - a landscape generator (by using equations: how strange is this ?) and 2 modelers ("L-Parser" and "Breeze-Designer") that might be useful in the hands of experienced people:

Since all other Super heroes were either lazy, too busy, not interested or too expensive I could only convince "Flash" to support me in showing a few examples (with a little bonus to increase his pension). Luckily his suit is still SUPER (expandable Wink ).

See "Flash" in the Flash: "Flash forward"

3D text by "WCVT2POV", Hill calculated with "M3D".

The link to the "3D-WIN" Converter is broken, but I found another:
http://www.brycemania.de/filearea.html

A lot of further downloads, some work, others are too old.
Did I mention converters in the subject line ?
There is another converter called "Crossroads" to enhance your iClone compatibility even more...

Wow, thanks! I'm very keen to try them!...

Is there any chance that your German websites can offer a converter for max/maya files to obj/fbx files?

There are so many wonderful free max files on the internet, but it seems like we *must* have max before we can use them.

And there is a free converter for Max on it's Autodesk website, but there are seven current versions - and that's just for windows - so it's impossible to know which one to download.

(I can already convert 3DSmax files to OBJ via Cinema4D... but that's like swatting a fly with a Mercedez... and I still can't find a converter to turn the new style of max files into obj/fbx )

That's probably true !

Please read what the guys from Polytrans have written here:
Please note that it is not possible to import or export .max files directly from any program in the world except for 3ds Max itself. This has been a highy confusing issue for non-3dsMax program owners since 1994. The .max file format is not a pure 3D file format (as is the .3ds file format) but rather it contains a "state snapshot" of how the various plug-in modules with 3ds Max interact with each other to produce the final displayed mesh model

Otherwise, I heard that Deep Exploration was able to do so, but that's the same price class as MAX. Furthermore, it's no longer supported and now owned by SAP.
From what I've read in other forums I would assume that probably 80% of the MAX users either have a student version (although not being students) or use a cracked version because it's much too expensive.

Unfortunately, my daughter already finished her studies and hates computers ! Wink
