For those of you who are interested, today marks the launch of the Second Annual TMU Ollies.

Further details, including how you can nominate those movies/series, actors, directors, writers, modders etc that YOU believe deserve recognition, can be found here.

Last year's awards (announced live on TMOA Radio) were well received and we hope to get bigger and better this year!

Thank you, and (in the worlds of the immortal Ollie himself) "Film On!" Wink.

If you're in the machinima community, you might be aware that this weekend is the 2nd Annual Machinima Ollie Awards. The Ollie awards honors a number of machinima films submitted to TMUnderground over the past year. Films are recognized for merits by the creators peers and fans on a variety of categories. More details of the awards can be found in the The Movies Underground site. Join the live event On Sunday 17 October is the full Film and Community Awards, on the Roger & Ken Show on TMOA Radio from 11am pacific to 4 pm pacific. You can also catch the show at TMU Theater click on the "Listen Live" button.

On Saturday 16 October, the committee will be announcing the Technical Awards (sound, vision, etc) on The Weekly Look TMOA Radio Show (thanks to Chris62 for allowing us to displace the second half of his show!).

We talked to one of the founders of the Ollie awards to find out more behind this award.

1) Who is behind the Ollie Awards?
The Ollie Awards were inspired by the desire for TMU to have an annual "Award show", similar to the Oscars, that enabled the community themselves to suggest who'd they would like to propose for various machinimation awards.

We've had "award shows" before, both on TMU and prior to that on The Movies Online, but mostly these were judged by secret panels or by individuals, without the individual "man in the forum" having any real say about who won or even who was up for the award in the first place...

This year, we are splitting the awards into two separate categories:-

On Sunday 17 October are the full Film and Community Awards, on the Roger & Ken Show on TMOA Radio (between 2pm-7pm EST; 7pm-12am UK).

Congrats to all the winners AND the nominees! TMU has seen some 8,500 films uploaded this year, so to make it even as far as the Shortlist is a great achievement, so well done!

HUGE thanks to everyone who supported the Ollies this year; without you, there would BE no Ollies!
