I'm trying to understand the proper workflow to take an iclone 8 character with animation into 3DS max and then add a CAT rig or replace with a CAT rig but retain the iclone animation.  I'm wondering if I have to start with just a CAT rig character in Max and then add the animation through the capture animation.  But trying that I would like to use the already skinned character from iclone add the CAT rig through the auto setup and then the animation. But that's not seeming to work either. I'm sure I'm missing a step or something. Appreciate help or pointing to the best lessons on this.

Thanks!
Matt

It appears to support biped and CAT rig in MAX
Check their youtube channel for video tutorials

I appreciate the response.  So far I'm still not figuring out how to take iclone animation bring that into MAX, keep that animation and then convert it to a CAT rig for further customization but retain the animation.  I've figured out how to take iclone into MAX and rig it with CAT but not keep the animation.  I'll keep trying but also hoping someone has some experience with it.

You can retarget Reallusion motions for Max. See here:

Thanks so much for your response and help.  I did watch that video. Maybe what I'm hoping to do isn't possible or I'm still missing it.  That video shows how to add motion to a CAT rig from an actor core motion bone.  I'm trying to take an animated actor from iclone 8 and turn it's motion bones into a CAT rig in MAX.  I have the animation pretty much there from iclone but need to tweak it in MAX but can't without converting it to a CAT or biped best I can tell.  I thought maybe I should try to export motion only from iclone and follow the process like the video link shows and add the animation that way but I've failed to figure out how to successfully export the motion from iclone and import onto MAX character.  Any further advice is greatly appreciated!

You will need to collect the clip in iClone, then export motion-only from CC4.
Collect or save clips in iClone:

Export motion-only in CC4:
