Hello,
In CrazyTalk 8 it was very easy. In CA4 , not so much. Anyone know how to get to face edit mode for an imported face image? Thanks.

I think it is a missed opportunity for RL, as there is still an interest in animated speaking photos. It is sad too because they were way ahead with this many years ago.

I found an article about "Speaking Portraits" that seems very similar to CrazyTalk. Just add a facial animation option with a camera and you have something fresh.

https://techcrunch.com/2021/09/23/d-id-launches-speaking-portrait-a-way-to-turn-photos-into-custom-photo-realistic-videos/

With so much Zooming going on people would like to show a fresh face in real time.

Thanks Vepop,

Would you happen to know how to get to morph-head create with out going through character create? b/c when you use character create, it prompts an image load. If you load the image it stays on the screen even after morph head requires an image load and they are superimposed on each other, that doesn't seem right. Thanks.https://forum.reallusion.com/uploads/images/99f70d81-8d2a-4836-b6ec-0e9c.jpg

I've no such problem.
Usually I create the image in transparent background saved in png format.
Once the morph head is created,  save it.
Then, attach it to a character later.

Try the following to just create a morph based head:

1. in CTA4 select "Create Character" from left side toolbar.
2. Select the image you want to use and click Open (switches to Composer Mode)
3. Click on the image in the viewport to select it.
4. From the Menu Bar select FaceEditor > Create Head > Convert To Morph Based Head.
5. Now go through the Face Fitting process just as you do in CrazyTalk 8.

Hi Animagic,

I just contacted their customers service for information. Thank for posting.  This is a miss opportunity. I am curious about the price of their software.  I hope the price is reasonable. I am currently exploring addition options for software.  Do you have any more suggestions.  Thanks again and stay safe from the virus.

I did a search for "animated speaking portrait maker" to find some more options, as I was curious. An overview of some of those is given in: https://graphicmama.com/blog/need-a-talking-avatar-here-are-your-options/.

Many of these or subscriptions, so not so attractive. However, there is one that is a one-time purchase (around $40) and seemed interesting. It's called VideoPal at https://www.videopal.io/go/.

The VideoPal page is a sales pitch, but there is some useful information. It is all aimed at having an avatar on your webpage, so it doesn't have a render option.

A free option, aimed at education, is https://www.voki.com/. They also have an option for commercial use (paid) at https://sitepal.com/.

I haven't tried any of those, but it seems that there are quite a number of possibilities.
