Hi, i'm trying to find a simple short hair for male, a bit like military stuff. and weirdly enough, i can't manage to find anything. while that kind of cut is super current IRL. so i was thinking of buying the hair builder, but i'm not even sure it'll do it. any idea. I'm a bit surprised RL doesn't propose any simple modern hair pack for males

Short hair is hard to do.  We are talking polygonal hair here, the only suitable hair for animation, and the "trick" of it (it's just ribbons with transparency) is to put enough of the ribbons so it actually looks like hair.  But "enough" means more hair than most short haircuts would support.

There are a *few* in the RL store, a few more in Daz that work, but by and large you won't find many.  My advice is to live with slightly longer hair than you might want, combined with some good skull caps.

Thanks Kelleytoons. i found one 'semi-long' hair in the shop that could fit, but is 15k polys which i find a bit high. as i don't want my character to exceed 30-40k polys. but when i try to reduce the polys of the hair i get weird stuff. the hair doesn't look realistic anymore, and doesn't fit with the scalp anymore. in RL hairbuilder in the shop they have something that looks a bit to what i'm looking for. but it seems it's only lateral hair

RL has said they will be releasing a pack of male hair similar to the mostly female one that was recently released.  No idea of the timetable, though.  So you could wait for that or try and scrape by with the few short male hair you can scrounge:

Thanks Kelleytoons. I own #6. this is the one i was talking about. I'm gonna contact their support about the pic i posted above, and see if it's a global hair cut, or only lateral

got their support. the hairbuilder pack shorthair doesn't include a full skull version. it's only lateral. at this point i managed to make a 40k poly character. fully dressed, with high res hair (15k polys), high res eyes, and high res teeth. the low res teeth are too ugly for a main character. great for PNJ but not for a character that you can zoom in. i could have used the game low poly eyes, but at this point i don't know how to create hazelnuts eyes, there are only blue. so that character will fit for my tests, and i'll try to lower the polys if a pack of hair is released someday. or if i discover tricks to lower the hair. but 40k even in the worst of cases i think for a main character, it's not that bad
