Hi.

I'm having a big problem with a mocap file.
When I convert the skeleton to non-standard the animation gets broken, check this images, you can see how the knees are crazy in the non-standard one, but the original mocap is exactly how we need it.

Any ideas please?
I'm about to having to go to another software to do the retarget, because after that we retarget this to a CC3 character, but we have to solve this problem, it's very important.

Thanks in advance!

Hi...

Do you have the correct T-Pose for this motion type?

If not you won't be able to correctly convert to Non-Standard until you set one up. Please see the tutorial below which explains what you need to do if you don't have the correct T-Pose.

Hi @peter

Thanks for the answer.

Yes, I have a T-Pose before converting it, you can check it here, and it's correctly aligned as the video says:

Thanks for explaining more.

If the t-pose is correct then the issue is likely in the conversion to non-standard.

What is the source of the mocap? Did you capture it yourself or did you download a mocap file.

The problem is that downloaded mocap files come in a variety of forms and not one standard format so the results you get can be mixed once converted.

However, the issue should be able to be fixed by doing a little tweaking of the motion clip in iClone. You can use "Edit Motion Layer" to correct the issue shown in your gifs if that is the only problem.

It's way more complex than using a motion layer. The knee goes crazy when it should be steady as in the original mocap, keep in mind that we are talking about 4000 frames and I cannot be tweaking 4000 frames, I'm not even sure if I can create a target for the knee so I can leave it steady.
The point on using mocap is to be as fast as possible Smile

It was captured by us with an specialised dancer with an XSense mocap suite in a studio (not our studio, but I have access to the tech person who exported it from the XSense software). If we do the retarget in other software like Maya/Motion Builder everything works fine, but our target is to use iClone for everything, but right now for some reason the retargeting is not working as it should.
All the bone definitions are correctly done and selected.

Is there something we can do to make it work correclty?

I still have not gotten any proper result for this.

Can someone help here a bit?
What should I do?
Do I have to ask for the mocap to be exported in a different format?

Any help appreciated, this is not kind of urgent.

Thanks!

Hi,

Can you provide a source mocap file to help figure out the problem.

A short motion even one frame is OK.
