Hi, I just ordered the LEAP device and waiting for delivery. I have been watching some of the videos on how to use this thing, but one thing I would like to know is.... How would I record hand movements and save, also... arm, head, body etc..... Then assemble that animation into the character to perform all at once. All I am seeing is using this device to control just those separate parts. Maybe this is something I should know from another video but I am still learning... If someone can point me to a video on this I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Hi. Don't worry, you can record the leap motion step by step, choosing what you want to record (there's an option to select only fingers or hands or arms, right left or both.) using motion live. I generally start with face animation with live face because it's the most who need precisions and free memory. after, I record the fingers motion , and the hands and finally the body (I don't have body mocap system but I use mocap bought on marketplace or mixamo or from other soft I import to iclone by 3DXchange At the end, you save all of your animations by collect clip tool and can apply it on other avatars On thing you have to know is : leap motion has his limits as any system. For my part it satisfy me for what I do, may be not for others pros here, but it's a good system you can do good things with

Some important things you have to know:
1/When you installed leap motion and connect it to Iclone, you have to do something if not there'll be no connection. You have to activate the case "authorize web application" which is déactivated by default. It's at the "general" page of setting.
2/When you calibrate your leap motion, draw QUICKLY on your monitor. If you do it slowly, you'll never get more than 80% and the calibration won't never end,
These two bugs happened to me so you have to pay attention to it

Thank you everyone!
Is the process the same for both iClone and Cartoon Animator? I did not buy 3d exchange as it was pretty expensive and I cannot, or have not tried to, make 3D items. I got CC3 Pipeline which I was told would do the same I just run it through CC3 then import to iClone. I would like to get the full body Mocap, the one was 1400.00 for the basic body set up from one company, not a bad price compared to some, of course with the needed plugins it will be a bit more LOL.
I do like that I can do facial with the LEAP device, I did get the web cam plugin for CA4, cannot afford the plugin and software for iClone webcam. Wonder why they have not just made their own as with CA4. Between that 1200.00, and the 1400.00 for the body mocap and then the plugins... I decided to stay with the 2D world for now... Seems to be a little easier to work with especially with making original content. Here is my 1st animated video... very basic but not bad for only having the program for such a short time. Think I bought this in Feb. (greenmeadowcandles.com) I made basic geometric shaped characters and scenery, used the elastic motions on most of the background scenery and rigged one of the sheep with the cat template.
I am sure that there will be limitations, just like everything, but I am hoping it will help speed up some of the workload. And although I did get this for CA4, I do have some characters I created in CC3 and a few animals I purchased from TokoMotion as well as a couple scenes... an office and a modern apartment. It will be fun to play with iClone and use this along with it. So much to learn... sooo little time LMAO.
Thanks again everyone... this information is very helpful. It should be here this thursday, 2 more days LOL. So excited!!!

Thanks Keith So another thing I was wondering is... can you use the web cam and LEAP device at the same time for doing facial and upper body (or full body) movements together?
