Iray v1.5 - Performance Enhancement
Within iClone there are several camera modes, likewise, we have implemented two types of camera modes for the Iray plugin: "spherical" and "cylindrical".
Our goal is to provide Iray the ability to export 360° environment map and video. The environment map can also used as an IBL image.
The viewing position of the environment map will be based on the position of the Target Camera.
The Camera Type option menu and environment map in practice:
The Spherical Camera ModeMainly for exporting 360° environment map for 360° videos and IBL images. Spherical setting does not factor int the camera's FOV value (because the lens shape is a sphere).
Cylindrical Camera Mode:
For projecting to a 360° screen. We recommend using an aspect ratio that is 4:1 or wider. The final result is effected by the FOV settings (you can experiment with different settings).

Support for Spherical 360 Video
Only the Spherical mode can export 360° videos for direct playback in Youtube and Facebook (the interface will stay the same, with the addition of 360° related data).

- Added: New export options for lens distortions includes None, Spherical, and Cylindrical, which can be used to export 360° camera.
- Added: Updated SDK to 2020.1.1, Build 334300.4226 to support RTX line of video cards and improve performance.(double check if it contradicts below enhancement!)
- Enhanced: Iray does not currently support RTX line of video cards. (FT#7386, #7520, #7542, #7574, #7593)
