Iray v1.4 - Performance Enhancement
Announcing the update for Iray v1.4: - Enhanced: Support for MDL 1.5, please visit nVIDIA website for more information.
- Enhanced: Update Iray SDK to RTX 2019.1.5. This will improve render speed from 0 - 106% performance increase according to the MDL versions used.

#Test 1
- Hardware spec:
- CPU: i7-7700
- Memory: 16G RAM
- Graphic Card: GTX 1070 / 8G
- Project: IC Embedded Project - Loft scene & Iray Export Settings
- When using Iray 1.3 ( IC 7.7) and set the render time as 3,600 seconds, we get 486 iterations:
- When using Iray 1.4 ( IC 7.7) and set the render time as 3,600 seconds, we get 593 iterations:
- As a result, the project has improved render speed of 22%.
#Test 2
- Hardware spec:
- CPU: i7-9750
- Graphic Card: Quadro RTX 5000 / 16G
- Memory: 64G RAM
- Project: IC Embedded Project - Roma scene
- When using Iray 1.3 ( IC 7.7) and set the render time as 1,169 seconds, we get 1,000 iterations:
- When using Iray 1.4 ( IC 7.7) and set the render time as 565 seconds, we get 1,000 iterations:
- As a result, the project has improved render speed of a whopping 106%!!!!

Just for the heck of it I ran the Loft Scene benchmark, as defined above, on my dual RTX Titans. It did 1,000 passes in 763 seconds using the most recent version of the iRay renderer. I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?
