I am interested in using the 2D aspect of this software to animate things that are unconventional, using images that have, for example, JUST a mouth and no eyes and / or ears.

Is there a way using CT 8 that this can be accomplished ?

Yes you can make almost anything talk and animate. Just setup the face fitting points in the approximate positions, and then add teeth and adjust the mouth settings. (see below).

Cool beans.  So if the image itself doesn't contain eyes, and you don't manually place them, then they do not exist.    THANK YOU Pete, this is exactly the information I needed.
