When I use the Headshot "auto mode" feature, the program will crash every time. I tried different base avatars and many different photos of people.

The program is never able to finish generating the head and hair. One of the main reasons why I bought Headshot was for the 3d hair generation.

Please refer to the attached images for the error message.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? If not, then I need to request a refund.

I am using Character Creator 3.22.2618.1.
My computer has 16 GB of memory.

Please see the FAQ page below. This is likely the problem.

Hi. I did not see any mention of needing a specific CPU for Auto Mode.

What exactly does it mean when it says the program needs a "Intel Sandy Bridge CPU (or higher)"? Can "higher" mean a CPU that is not a Sandy Bridge CPU but is a newer CPU version than the Sandy Bridge CPU?

I did a quick check and the Sandy Bridge CPU is the 2nd generation of the Intel Core processors.

My computer has a Intel Core i7-5500U Processor, which I believe is a 5th Generation Intel Core™ i7 Processor. Doesn't my CPU count as "higher" than the Sandy Bridge CPU? Character Creator 3 constantly crashes no matter what I try with this CPU.

Also, I may be considering buying a computer with a Intel Quad Core i7-6700HQ Processor. It is a 6th Generation Intel Core i7 Processor. Is this considered higher than the Sandy Bridge CPU? Will Auto Mode work with this CPU?

Please let me know as soon as possible. I would really like to get this feature working on my computer before the return policy expires. Thanks for your help.

Could you post an image or two you are using.

Some images CAN cause problems -- shouldn't be all by any means, but at the very least someone else here can check it out and make sure it's not the image.

Hi Kelleytoons. I don't have this problem when using Pro Mode. All the images I tried have successfully generated a head.

If I use those same images in Auto Mode, the program will crash every time, so I do not think the image is causing the problem.

As I mentioned earlier, one of the main reasons I bought Headshot was to be able to generate 3D hair based off of an image. That is why I am interested in Auto Mode.

I have attached an image that worked in Pro Mode but crashed in Auto Mode. You can check if you see the same problem on your end.

Do you have a working image that was able to generate a head and hair in Auto Mode? I can try and see if it works or not. Thanks in advance!

Okay, that image worked for me.  So, don't really know what's going on in your system.

However, if it helps -- the generated hair is AWFUL.  Honestly, it's only good for VERY long distance shots (say if you were in a room -- even the folks in the back of the room would be too close.  It would have to be more like a ballroom or perhaps football field).  The "hair" is just a solid mesh that isn't customizable in any way shape or form.  It looks putrid.

If what you want is the auto hair -- get your money back.  Even if you got it, you wouldn't like it.

Kelleytoons, can you post the image from the "Auto Mode" render? I am curious how the result compares to my "Pro Mode" render.

Also, are you saying that the 3d hair generated from all your past renders have been horrible? Can you upload some pictures of some good, or even decent, results?

I don't expect perfect 3d generated hair. I don't even care if it is mostly a solid mesh and not thousands of individual strands of hair. As long as similar to the reference picture, then it is good enough.

I watched the Reallusion demo video before buying Headshot. After seeing the 3d hair and head in the video, it was one of the reasons I bought Headshot.

Here are some of the results from the demo video. The 3d hair on the hair looks very close to the reference picture so I think it was generated from the picture and not some 3rd party hair. Are you saying the 3d hair you generated never came close to these results?

The 3D hair is basically a "head helmet".  It will always look better absolutely straight on, but as soon as you move even slightly to one side or the other it looks pretty awful.  But I guess it's what your expectations are -- if you are doing cartoons (which is to say, VERY stylized stuff) I suspect it might be adequate, except the look of the face itself doesn't then match (but perhaps you could use the cartoon shader).

And the helmet is constructed in such a way that you can't change the color or much else about it -- it's just not useful except, as I said, for background shots.  You certainly would NOT use it for any "hero" character (so nothing that is, say, 3/4 shot or closer).  But, again, I'm not sure what you are trying to do with this stuff.

Here is that image you provided, with the helmet hair and with some hair I just threw on.  I also colored the hair to see how I could do it.  If this works for you, then perhaps you should pursue getting the process working on your machine.  But, as I said, personally I would never bother with Auto mode.

If you have an Intel Core i7-5500U Processor  (5th Generation) then this should be fine to use with Headshot's Auto Mode.

As the CPU is not the problem, I would advise making sure you have updated graphics drivers as this may be causing the crashing. If you then still have problems, please let us know which graphic card you have.
