I just purchased Headshot and am trying to learn it. To my surprise when I clicked on auto mode a note came up saying I have to have a video card that has AVX. It doesn't say any mension of that in the requirements listed before you buy. "Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 900 Series AMD Radeon R7 300 series".
My graphics card : is NIVIDIA GTX 1060, 6G. Can someone please shed some light on this? Am I just out of luck? I never heard of AVX before.

Your card should be OK.

The note really doesn't make sense. I checked and AVX has to do with the CPU, but still shouldn't be needed.

What is your CPU? Also, is a desktop or a laptop?

The AVX instruction set is indeed a CPU thing. It was introduced in the "Sandy Bridge" family of Intel chips, and the "Bulldozer" family for AMD. So your older Intel CPU does not have AVX.

Unfortunately the auto mode of Headshot requires AVX. It is a different algorithm than the pro mode, and so has somewhat different needs. Fortunately the pro mode is more powerful, with image matching and higher resolution options.

Interesting. At least the message should be reworded so that it provides correct information to the user.

In addition, the minimum requirements should state this. Right now the minimum requirements say dual core (!) and for the recommended requirements Intel i5.  (I couldn't find anything specific for Head Shot.)

I think it is time to add a minimum CPU generation. It has been an ungoing struggle to have realistic system requirements included on the actual product page.

Yeah, I know what you mean. It's not required for iClone. The Headshot requirements actually do show it.

I think it should be a bit easier to find the system requirements. You really have to dig for them, and I missed them for Head Shot.

It's still incomplete, though, what is stated, because if you look at the recommended requirements it just says i5, so you would think that an i7 is OK, and it's not.

Thank you, guys. I went to the link and it didn't say anything about AVX so I am assuming that the "Sandy Bridge" type CPU is what makes the difference. Ya, its buried unless one is computer savy. I don't know if I can change my CPU without losing other software on my computer that is identified by my CPU. It may think that I have a different computer or that someone else is trying to install it on their computer. Mainly talking about Adobe Premiere Pro V5.5. I know its old software but its all I have for video editing.
But, thank you both.
