I am using blender 2.8 to create some set pieces (stationary things like walls, chairs etc) and it seems that 3D exchange isn't liking the FBX files. I can import Daz3d stuff in, quite nicely but NOT Blender. is anyone else having this issue and if it cannot be fixed, what else are people using to build set pieces?

What do you mean "not liking"?  Are you not using the right options to export?  What kinds of errors do you get? And why don't you use OBJ export?

And I don't use 3DX anymore -- I just drag and drop FBX/OBJ into iClone.  Much easier/better.  (The only reason to use 3DX is if you have an avatar you need to convert).

I am using the .fbx from Blender 2.8, while I can do simple things like columns, I really didnt see any exporting options in Blender like you have in Daz. The object when I import them into 3d Exchange look like they have a drape covering them. what other options in Blender are there aside from selecting .fbx? Is there any way to make it more dynamic like in Daz3d?

What happens if you drag and drop the FBX into iClone?  And what happens if you save as an OBJ (and also just drag and drop into iClone -- don't use 3DX).

Looks like you have a bad topology with a lot of ngons there. And iClone cannot interpret those. Any final model for export should ONLY have faces with 3  (tris) or 4 (quad) vertices.
Before you export from Blender go to Mesh and select Triangulate faces (this is a quickest way to fix it). But I suspect there might be more problems there.
