Does anyone kow how to create a cutom Mesh Terrain (.iterrain)  from scratch..I want to create a background terrain of a metropolitan city that moves in 3d space like "Combat Stage"bundled with Iclone 7  Mesh

Thanks Gerry for the quick reply ...but Warlords video does not address my problem.(...and he has great tutorials I refer to them often) .I'm trying to create a scene/terrain similar to the Combat Stage (see attached) 
But as you will notice from the attached jpg ....their is no material editor or way to edit the diffuse nor any other maps

Now that I understand your requirements better, here's the quick and easy way to create such a Terrain.

I'm using default iClone props for this example.

First a few props added to a scene:

Next each prop is selected in turn and from the right mouse click menu "Convert to Terrain" is selected for each item:

After all assets have been converted to a Terrain the scene manager now looks like that shown below:

The items are now listed under the Terrain list in the Scene Manager. It is important to make sure that all assets are correctly positioned before converting them to the Terrain, because making texture adjustments is impossible unless the item is re-converted to a prop. Moving, rotating or scaling items converted to a Terrain is also not possible using the Gizmos, this is only possible by changing the values in the Transform panel.

Gotcha...so in other words i have to build the set first out of 3D objects or pre-made packs and then concert it to a terrain... right

you can do your terrain in any 3d software you use like blender , 3dsmax, c4d etc. just have carefull to mantain a low poly count. so convert it to prop and inside iclone convert it to terrain all tress will folow and respect it as a normal terrain. i do this terrain on Mudbox using sculpt tools .

If I build the city in Blender or 3DSMax should I export it as an FBX or OBJ...I assume I would hen have to bring it into 3DXchange (but 3DXchange crashes when trying to import OBJ)

Hi,
Yes you do have to use 3DXchange.  If it crashes, maybe due to the High polygon counts, try to decimate the city.
