Hi all,
Despite to my expectations it turned out hair export is main problem of CC. I've tried different types hairs - ones imported from daz, from other modeling software as well as "standard" CC hairs - in every case when I try to export hair either to UE4 or Unity I get terrible results. quality of hairs are simply terrible. I would estimate it about 4/10 at max. Even in CC hairs look mediocre, but when you export it, it simply becomes not hair, but rather placeholder of hair. I've tried different approaches - tried manually fine-tuning textures, tried Reallusion import plugin, but result is the same in every case - some terrible looking thing.
Anybody managed to make CC hairs usable in game engines?

This has been a sore spot with CC for sure. There’s another thread about importing to unreal and how bad the hair is. It’s a known issue so hopefully RL is working on a solution.

Kungphu,
Nice work. Smile

As for hair export now I am sure Reallusion people know they fu**ed it up. Here is a proof: https://www.reallusion.com/character-creator/game.html#auto-setup - you can download two plugins from this webpage, one for Unity and one for Unreal. They both are pieces of garbage. Unreal one imports hair material as masked texture - most pathetic attempt I even seen. You need details, just look at this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qZsU5jaW2M.  First look at original character (at the beginning) and then at imported monstrosity (at 8:37) it is anything but hair. If you need more proof, just download two samples (one for unity and another for UE) from above location: in both samples main characters are hooded: they did not manage to properly import a single hair. There are low level detail characters in Unity sample too. Use free camera to look at them, but be be ready to hold vomit reflexes. I do not know how it looks on smaller screens, but on my 43 inch monitor it simply looks disgusting. So please Reallusion guys, do something if you want CC to be used for games.

this is also something bothering me a lot, after using some DAZ hairs, while they not look "perfect" they manage too look, much, really much better than CC hair, it must be something on the texture or UV, because is really weird cuz DAZ hair having only a base color and alpha(opacity) manage to look much superior than the CC with full configuration, while not perfect you ca get a really superior look hair with it.

just look at this exemple:
a daz hair, when don't looks perfect, already look superior than CC, that is why i really don't understand what they are doing wrong.

here the CC hair:

I have to agree with everyone else on this thread, the hair exports leave a lot to be desired.  What's odd to me is that some hair from Reallusion shows up in Unity, while others don't show at all or only show up with half the hair showing and the hair being offset from the model.  None of it looks like what appears in CC, it can be made to look better than it does by default by applying third party shaders to it, but it still doesn't look like it does in CC and it kind of ruins the illusion of an otherwise very human looking character.  Surely someone has found a good solution for hair, or is everyone making games that just contain bald characters?
