I'm brand new and just getting my head around iClone, Daz and Poser. Poser and Daz seem to have a ton od incompatibility -- this figure only works with these items etc, not those. 

Does iClone importing have any similar limitations it can it important and combine, for example, Genesis 3 with clothing designed for Genesis 8?

You won't have those limitations if you use Character Creator 3 Pipeline's Transformer feature. With this, you can bring in any Daz Genesis characters and clothing for use with iClone. Once converted and saved in CC3, you can then mix and match without any issues. So, for example, you could have a Transformed Genesis 8 character wearing Genesis 3 clothes, Genesis 2 shoes and Genesis 1 hair.
