Since CTA supports a 3D stage, it would be nice to be able to import 3D objects.  I wouldn't want a complex rendering engine behind it since we are talking a cartoon here.  Just simple support for texture maps and color materials.  And probably no lighting/shadows.  Artists would have to draw their shadows on the texture map which is what we do now for most backgrounds anyway.

Introducing 3D cartoon figures to CTA may also be the answer to making Multi-angle characters being easy to make.  It would be like importing a Character Creator mesh into CTA which acts as a specialized cartoon renderer.  Instead of focusing on a realistic renderer, focus on making the 3D mesh appear to be a 2D drawing.

Hi...

Thank you for the feedback but this isn't in the current plans for CTA4.

The simplicity of CTA is that it is designed to work with images and drawings. This makes CTA able to animate almost anything you have an image of. Supporting 3D objects in a 3D world space would be turning CTA into a 3D program which we already have with iClone 7.

However, there is nothing to stop you taking a screenshot of a 3D character and then use that image as the source for a character in CTA. Alternatively, if you really want 3D cartoon characters you can use iClone 7 which supports toon characters as well as lifelike human characters.

I understand.  Actually, I have been rendering 3D characters out and splitting them apart to make G2 figures.  It's a great way to get accurate multi-angle views of a character.  Thanks.
