Hi,
I don't know if this question was answered before, but I haven't found the corresponding topic. I would like to know if there is news about the posibility of rendering the popcornfx particles using Iray. Will be available in the fututre?
Thank you very much.

The question has been asked many times, but as yet there has been no information published regarding any time frame.

Popcorn FX appears, to me, to be an "overlay" effect for real time game engines (like HDR glows etc.). Iray, and any other path tracing renderers need actual mesh in the scene for which to bounce light rays off in order to 'see them' - the easiest solution would be to incorporate an entirely new particle system that exists "in" an iClone scene as opposed to "on top of". It's entirely possible that PopCorn FX could be a "post process" to the Iray renders... but that option wouldn't be great for interactive previews. Short answer... instead of waiting for RL you could learn and master an alternative software for particles like the free Blackmagic Fusion or HitFilm.

Popcorn FX is pretty much a mesh and can be seen and rendered by a raytracer (either billboards, or a *hardcore* mesh as in emitters). But same as trees it is not exposed in iClone directly. I have high hopes they would eventually make it *seen* by Iray (but first, trees need an overhaul - there are still problems rendering and mainly exporting them in Iray).
