So I created an accessory in Blender (not too complicated--but not terribly simple). I used the MAX .fbx template and then did Create->accessory and loaded the .fbx file successfully. The accessory is parented to the forearm bone (so that worked)--but now, highlighting it, I can't save it for use on another model. Any help?

I got it. I needed to transfer skin weights.
Now I need to figure out how to do materials for it. They don't seem to transfer well from Blender.

You shouldn't have a trouble with materials if they are maps. Using other shading approaches require a lot more Blender expertise, though (way above my pay grade).
