Well, you're misspeaking then.  You don't "transfer weight maps" onto hair -- you create physics maps (there are no "weight maps" coming from other programs to be transferred).

But let's say for a moment you don't mean that, that you are just bringing the hair into CC3 and NOT transferring any weights.  So you just need to learn to draw the physics maps correctly (and adjust them correctly in iClone).  Here's one tutorial I did for Daz hair:

But i want to thank you, Mr. Kelley, for this tutorial!
It helped me to enable physics on one of my DAZ character's hair.

Hey! So I am trying out weight painting in Blender but I am not sure how i can export that info into cc3.   Right now that data is no where to be find inside cc3.   Any ideas?

I know how to do it for the 3DX method, and I assume it works the same for CC3 (but it might not).

Here's one of my OLD tutorials about this process:

Ah -- shoot, I deleted it because it was obsoleted by CC3 Transformer (it was really all about getting Daz clothing into CC2).

All right, let me see if I can remember enough to sum up the process (and I'm old, so I may not).  In Blender, select each piece of clothing, one at a time, and parent it to the armature.  You do this by first selecting the piece, then hold the shift key down and click on the biggest bone (the large armature bone) then Control-P to parent, with empty groups.  Then with it parented, you select the body mesh and hold down the shift key again, and click on the clothing piece (which should turn blue -- if the body turns blue you did it wrong).  The last thing is to go to tools, weight tools, and transfer weights.  You go to source and click on By Name and that should do it.

This works for hair as well as clothing (it's the only way to transfer weights that I know).  My hair tutorial (on making your own custom hair in Blender) shows this process if you want to see it (but it's a VERY long tutorial -- sorry):

Hey! So, i'm trying to do what you said and I cannot export it back into CC3.  I have a base character in blender and created by hair on that but normally just export the hair as an OBJ.

I exported a base character with the hair on it and hair weight but then imported it into blender to remove the vertex groups i don't need and just head and spine like you said,

I just can't get the character with hair back into CC3. Just the via OBJ but i don't think that will work right. It has to be FBX with the character attached right?  

I cannot find a proper tutorial on getting fbx out of cc3, in to blender, then back into cc3.

Okay, first use a naked CC3 character and do an FBX export (it will say "Clothed character" but just do him/her nude).  That will create both the FBX "model" as well as the needed FBXKey file to import back in.

Then just follow my tutorial.  Let me know if you get stuck at any point (and exactly where you might be getting stuck).

That's all you need.  Just bring the hair back into CC3 after you follow my instructions (look at around 38.45 of my video where I've exported from Blender and then import into CC).
