I am testing CC 3 now, and I cannot understand something.

Is the "merge materials" feature from InstaLOD only available for exporting fbx files to other software?

Can't we merge the materials of characters that will be used inside iClone?

Merging materials is a cool feature, but if it cannot be used inside IC and it's only for other 3D software, it doesn't interest me.

I would be interested in getting some feedback!!

At the present time, InstalLOD and the Merge Material options are only available through the export panel when outputting to FBX. However, we do plan to allow these options to be available when you export to iAvatar as well. This is planned for a future upgrade coming in the first half of 2019.

you can bring all skin textures to 1 texture by using the game base option
(save your avatar before you do this)

and for hair and clothing you use the poly reduction(object) which has a bake textures option
you could set the poly reduction to 100% if you dont want to reduce it..
delete the original mesh

now send the avatar to iclone or save it.

this also makes bringing daz stuff into a painter much much easier
and weight problem weight maps can be dealt with

Yes, you can use the game base option for a combined head and body texture but this doesn't include the other InstalLOD options. My point is that we do plan to make the InstalLOD options available for .iAvatar export as well via an upgrade later this year.
