Hey Everyone,

This is 100% iClone project that started with 4 walls, a few iClone assets, a few props I had laying around and hours of 3DXchange  .obj conversions.
It's been a while since I posted any Iclone work... Thought I'd share this piece. Far from perfect... I could tweak this for days, but sometimes you just gotta go ahead and render it. The client LOVES IT! Open to all comments and suggestions especially when it comes to lighting.

Be sure to watch in full screen in HD to really enjoy it!

Very impressive for iclone.  Unfortunately I am not skilled enough to give you suggestions.  Its not quite there in terms of realism, maybe you need to wait for iclone 9?  Glad I saw it as it has shown me I somehow need to up my game.

This is a great start however there are few things that could be improved.
1) Hard shadows, at night time there should be non. All shadows should be soft
2) proper Ibl bakes, It looks like you did one but the problem is you are getting very inaccurate reflections as you move from area to area, using a single IBL makes the materials not work correctly from certain camera angles. solution: use cuts to move from area to area or use ibl transitions as you move from area to area. the key is to have a baked IBL for each area. example: living room , dining room, bar, etc.
3) take better advantage of GI emissive surfaces and mix them with shadow casters.
4) try to control the lighting to give better shape to the furniture.
5) your AO is too spread and not going dark enough at the edges of where the two pieces of geometry intersects.
6) the marble floors are looking too even lit, try using the roughness map to control the shading better.
7) gobos in front of spotlights to simulate IES profiles
I think if you address these suggestions your render will look that much better. Hope this helps.  Smile

Cheers,

Thank you Stuckon3d. I was hoping you would comment. It's going to take a me a little while to get through the list but I am going to try and make each correction as noted. BTW - I've watched EVERY ONE of your tutorials. You've been my iClone instructor for years now. Thanks to you I am able to have gotten this far!
