Why does everything that they have for CTA3 seem to be using Adobe products ( which must be rented) and then when they do the white pages they use Affinity Designer (which is bought)? Their links go to Photo shop (which is rented through adobe). The Character Creator videos all use Adobe products. Is Reallusion partnered with Adobe?

Well, it's only a guess but I suspect it's because everyone is familiar with Adobe products (Photoshop, like it or not, is the #1 image editing program and has been for a long, long time). It just doesn't make sense to use any other program to demo something, even if you can choose other editors yourself.

I guess I just don't have that much money to pay out at one time or once a month at a higher rate to get both programs. that makes me an outsider.

Not an outsider -- I don't have (nor ever intend to get) ZBrush, which is integrated into CC3 far more than any Adobe program (they have special routines for it) but that doesn't bother me as I can use 3DCoat for the same purposes. If you have your favorite image editor just use that instead -- nothing wrong with that (and because Photoshop is out there on the web in SO many tutorials you will need to know how to translate it to your own workflow anyway).

KenCoon, I know of one Adobe Photoshop-ish product that is free - GIMP (click the link to the website). Hopefully the other forum readers will list other free Adobe-ish products to use.

CTA3 uses the PSD format which was developed as the native file format for Adobe Photoshop. It would be pretty daft not to mention/use Photoshop most of the time. In spite of being a trademark, "photoshop" has been added to various dictionaries as a verb since the term has become so well known globally. But other applications can read and write PSD files sufficiently well that they can also be used. Reallusion have, for the longest time, promoted some of these alternative applications on the PSD Character Animation page. Scroll down to the "Compatible Tools" section near the bottom. Reallusion is not forcing you to get into bed with Adobe. You have choices.

No, just use your favorite digital drawing program. For G3 it is imoportant the PSD format. I use and love clip studio (looks like Photoshop, but have the better drawing tools for my taste) But also free Tools like Krita wants to work or use your Afinity
If you really want to create G2 then you can use an old Flashprogram or Draw Plus. Not the Tool is important but the Creativity and Skills.
All Tutorials you can see with Photoshop can also create with other tools.

You can find lots of free open sourced drawing software online. Adobe products are a bit expensive considering that you will never own the software. Its easier to use Adobe products to create content. There is a bit of dependency on Adobe software to create characters. I have a found an alternative software but you need to spend time learning it.
