I could never understand how to use iRay in Daz but in CC3 it was easier to figure out. Here's a couple of renders using iRay "Sun & Sky" and the default IBL. Very impressed with what it does to the hair. Also wanted to check out the SSS channel. Most excellent.

Tried out different light settings and came out with this. I set the render for 2000 iterations. Didn't take that long, about 10 minutes.

Just imported my first DAZ character into CC3 (thanks Kellytoons). I used a multiplier on the hair in iRay to bring out the highlights and only set 1000 iterations for the scene. Very impressed with RL's new features for CC3.

These stills are very nice. Cool details and lighting.

But when you said "It didn't take that long, about 10 minutes" you nearly killed me.

If a simple character without animation, props, GI, additional lights etc, needs 10 minutes to render a frame, then bye bye using iRay for animated films... Sad

Thanks for the feedback. The thought of animating with iRay never entered my mind. I do a lot of stills and the quality of the renders rival DAZ !  I bought the Elite Character pack just for the hi-rez skins. What a difference it makes. I also jack up the  smoothing (Sub-D) which takes even longer to render. I put all 8 cores of my 1080 t1 to work on it. I  don't mind walking away from the computer for an hour or so. I'll try the "background render" app soon.  Anyway, an app that does hi-rez stills and also  lo-rez animation in one package, and do them both well, is simply amazing.

I  remember the old days when I started with  32 bit iClone 3 and all it could put out was a 3000x3000 fuzzy still image. Posters at the time thought I was nuts looking for better still image renders from a 3D app. RL has come a long way, baby!

Nice one, TOB! Here's another one using the iRay Materials 600 for the glass in the vase.  The hardest part in learning how to use iRay is ignoring whatever lights you see in CC3 viewport and using the iRay preview instead. You can't see the shaders or the correct lighting in the viewport and the only thing it's good for is to re-position the scene. Thankfully, it only takes a few seconds to see if the lighting is right even before the image is finished rendering. I'm using the Studio_01 IBL thingy for lights and I rotated it until I got the look I wanted. The girl's skin is from the Hi-Rez folder of the Elite Characters and it's amazing. The morphable hair is from the Dawn Starter Pack. Great resource! The wall is from the CC3 Props folder and the flower/vase I found on my hardrive. It took about 18 minutes to render. RL has developed great tools for us!
