I have some light sources that I am using to cast GI light onto a character, but I want them to not show up in the render (but have the lighting still hit the character). Is this possible?

Yeah, you can do this -- planes are a good way to go (they face one way and illuminate, but on the other side they are see-through).

You can also make the plane a dummy in case it's two-sided (the built-in iClone emissive planes are). It will still illuminate.
