I have installed the new CC3 and I-ray plugin, and it claims to be for both CC and iClone, but I only see it in CC3. I-ray doesn't show in the list of plugins in IC7. The DLM shows "I-ray for CC3 and iClone" as installed, so where is I-ray in iClone7?

Iray for iClone will not be released until sometime later this year. This has been mentioned several times by Reallusion in various posts.

Yes, Reallusion did something confusing.
The iClone version that supports Iray was expected to be "7.3." They released a "7.3" iClone at the same time as CC3+Iray. But this 7.3 *iClone* release does not support Iray. It just plays nicely with CC3.
So... I think we're looking forward to a 7.4 later this year with an Iray plug-in.
The timeline has not changed, just the numbering.
iClone 7... Character Creator... Substance Designer/Painter... Blender... Audacity... Desktop (homebuilt) - Windows 10, Ryzen 9 3900x CPU, GTX 1080 GPU (8GB), 32GB RAM, Asus X570 Pro motherboard, 2TB SSD, terabytes of disk space, dual monitors. Laptop - Windows 10, MSI GS63VR STEALTH-252, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 (6GB), 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD

Ohh, I see! Thanks for letting me know, since I've obviously missed the announcement. The fact that the product is called "Iray Render plug-in for iClone and CC" doesn't help. The ads also put some weight on Iray rendering in iClone, so we assume when we install the plugin, it would support iClone, and then get confused when it doesn't (yet). On the bright side, this thread will also help others who got confused about this like I did.

so if you purchase the iRay plug in now, will you need to repurchase for iC7 once it becomes available, or will we get a free upgrade ? I've trialed the plug in CC3, but mainly interested in having it for iC7 so I can render still shots of scenes from my productions

RL have already stated there will be no extra charge for owners of the CC version when the iClone plugin becomes available.
