I'm super excited that the area I have for all this is *exactly* the right size (about 11.5 x 11.5, with a 16.5' diagonal). I can set the capture thingees on my walls in each corner and just leave them setup. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes anytime I want to start a capture, which beats like hell the iPisoft stuff. I'll definitely post some stuff on my YouTube channel about my success (or lack thereof :> . It even beats Perception Neuron, where you have to put on all those straps and neurons. Orion basically excites the hell out of me too.

This is great service. Is that directly from HTC Vive? I know that Bestbuy didn't allow return on the Oculus rift and touch combo in canada. Anyway Bestbuy don't have the trackers so when I decide to buy the HTC vive it will be directly from them. Can't speak for Canada, but late last night I ordered another tracker from Best Buy here and it's in stock and will be here next Monday (I decided I don't want to do the wired head thing but would rather go wireless). And our Best Buy allows return of anything, basically (I belong to the Best Buy Pro or whatever it's called club, and have up to 45 days to return anything).

It seems to be easier to set-up for sure and the video seems convincing. The only thing that seems a bit stiff are the hands, perhaps it is the way they captured the motions. But the Motion Live plugin and leap controller combo should be a great complement to the Orion. And our Best Buy allows return of anything, basically (I belong to the Best Buy Pro or whatever it's called club, and have up to 45 days to return anything).
Thanks for the info Mike. I will definitely check this.

This video is what I'm feeling. It only touches on the gaming side, but I 'sense' this is going to be the case with recorded motions, just like everything else -except Xsen$- a hassle to set up:
Also, note the green/purple wall screens in the other videos displaying the Orion part. You will need that real-life monochrome PopVideo background, otherwise it will probably have less accurate tracking.

Nah, you aren't seeing a right video at all. Watch some of the folks using ORION, not the VIVE tracker. Orion is mocap, and it's superb. I've seen folks using it in their bedroom, their garage, places where there is so much junk they had to hop over things (invisibly, which is pretty funny). It works perfectly, and with only about 30 seconds of setup (you can actually do it in about 10, but you need to turn things on). But I wouldn't watch that stuff if I were you -- you'll want to spend money (that's what happened to me :> .

Wow! Just wow. I was contemplating going with the new perception Neuron Pro. Expensive but looks way better than the PN since it’s shielded similar to an Xsens. If Reallusion were to make a plug for the Orion that could be an amazing budget solution with crazy good results??!!!

I'm not ready to pay 400 pounds a year for the Ikinema Orion software. That's USD $535 or CAD $700 a year. If you don't use it professionally, every day, that's an outrageous sum. I would be willing to try the Brekel software instead with a one-time USD $135 fee. But how well does the resulting FBX files integrate with iClone? Also, could it be possible to do away with Vive's wired head set and the hand controllers and use only 6 or 8 trackers instead?

Yes, you can add trackers for both the hands and the head (I already bought a head tracker, since I'm not going to wear that WHD thing or whatever it's called). Orion supports that, but since you don't want to pay for it I think Brekel does as well (Brekel supports up to a ridiculous amount of trackers, something like 10-15). With Brekel you'll also probably need four extra trackers (so another $400 but a one time cost) as it doesn't do elbows/knees well without them (according to folks who've tried. I'm going to see how it works myself early next week, as I test both Orion and Brekel, but at this point such a yearly cost doesn't bother me at all). Brekel ought to be decent in terms of output -- I've used their Leap stuff, as well as their Kinect, and while the limitations of the hardware made things difficult they didn't have any problems importing into iClone.
