I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but a headcam is something that is almost non-existent for everyday users and hobbyists. I've done a lot of searching and most companies either won't respond to requests for specific information on price, or they won't sell a helmet without their system. Faceware itself is a prime example.
Now this is about what you are looking at in price for a headcam if you buy it from someone else. Just google Headcam mocap rig and you'll see what I'm talking about. It doesn't seem like anyone is making anything at the hobbyist level yet. Unfortunately this is about the lowest cost one I have seen that's pre-built.
Now there are a lot of do it yourself headcam rigs that you can undertake. DIY is more time consuming, but it will end up costing you substantially less than what these folks are charging. Like this one:
Now I may have missed something along the line, but my search thus far has not yielded anything substantial or workable.
