Wonder how it would be if iClone compiled shaders like Unreal. If I were to find out that Unreal was going to have an Iray plugin, I would be completely uninterested. The Octane one coming later for Unreal, I wonder what that will look like. But Iray coming for iClone, really interested to see this. I wonder how many of iClone's own in-house effects will be integrated in it (ie Post FX.), if at all, Indigo was completely separate from iClone once the render left iClone.

As both a dedicated iclone and daz3d user this just made my life. I'm very curious about the iray plugin when it comes to video rendering. Will that be possible? Will it be similar to indigo rendering or the norm? I know Kai said a lot of integrations between iclone and daz3d is coming in these next few months. I'm wondering if I'll get if not the same but similar results for my animated characters I rendered in Daz3d below. I have videos of them in iclone but I see and major difference with iray vs pbr. I know you guys are still testing, just curious.

I really hope that RL considers adding in a fix for the real life distractions that pull us away from iClone. I don't know how many times I myself have had to do other things besides iClone, and it is truly frustrating. If RL could get focused on fixing this in the next few releaes, this would be great. Please Please fix. Thanks.

These are interesting developments. I haven't spent much time with Iray in Daz. However, I have Octane. Has anyone though of submitting Iclone to the Octane forum for a plugin? There are some motivated software creators over there. I know Blender, Houdini.....most packages have an Octane plugin now. { they're not free however} Of interest is the upcoming real-time Octane called Brigade.

I do a lot of stills and, to be honest, I don't see that the iray is necessarily any better than the base IC7 lighting as pictured. It's brighter, I'll give you that, but a lot of the detail is washed away in the light reflection and general brightness ( ie: the ceiling in the living room loses it's wood-grain in the iray version.) Looks like it also washes out the shadows as well, making the iray versions look flatter. Maybe it's that the pics aren't showing iray at it's best but I'd say, at the moment, I'm not inspired. Don't hate on me, I just expected more out of it. pete

@PeterBlood - No hating on you. There many times people showed Indigo-vs-iClone and I actually liked the iClone render better.
What Iray (and Indigo) can give you is accurate reflections, refraction, sub-surface scattering, and caustics. But it costs you rendering time, of course.

.. and it does not teach how to surface, to light and to render properly.
