Okay, I confess. I finally upgraded 3 weeks ago from my faithful and beloved old iC5 to the shiny spanky new iC7 and some of it's flashy, sparkly new plugins, lighting and gizmo's,

so this is basically a fun "Note to Self" while I'm still learning.

It's also why it covers curves on everything from cameras, image layers and particles to the more commonly tuted motions for avatars.
And yes, I know the Editor is only supposed to work for some aspects of particles at this stage, but WOW!... Slow motion explosions inside iClone!!... YAY!!!!

And yes, I know the Editor is far more valuable for realistic style avatars, smoothing mocap etc,
but I'm a Toon Wrangler and couldn't wait to try out the new rendering quality - and wow, I'm LOVING IT!

This tutorial also gave me a chance to practice some other new-fangled tools, including shadow catchers, light emitters and the new physX engine...
(yeah, I know, it's been around since iC6, but I never really got the hang of that version.)

So I finally managed to get properly pinned leather reins flopping about while riding a horse... YAYY!
We can even get one rein flopping more than the other depending on length! DOUBLE YAYYY!

And I learned how to make a whole pack of pleasant gaits for the iClone Arabian so he no longer needs to gallop about like a star-gazing feral mustang. LOL

If only this pesky little blue dude can quit being so cheeky, I might actually get back to my next toon series, LOL:

And if you like this one, then see also the list of Resource Links below the video on Youtube, which includes my only other "Note to Self" Tutorial about Toonshading: Archer Style. LOL

Great little tutorial!   I am a bit slow so I had to pause a lot to grab all the infos (reading while listening) but I see your have a lot of experience with curve editors. Everything is really smooth...

Thanks for sharing!

Actually, I only had the curve editor for a week.
Never been to uni for animation. So I didn't even know what a curve editor was until iClone released one.
As a newbie for my first 2 years, I couldn't understand why so many "oldies" were always complaining "why can't we have a curve editor, wah wahhh..."

But I didn't understand their lingo, so I wasn't convinced I needed one... until I tried the dang thing, and wow!
Now I can't imagine life without it.

Sincerest apologies to all the veterans for ever doubting you.
Apparently you weren't crazy after all, LOL

Well maybe I should spend more time with the curve editor. I saw many great tutorials but I have to spend more time with this tools. Tongue

Thank you!

Now there is a great effort. A story styled tutorial......oh yea.

Official tutorials are something I have checked out often but haven't got around to using curve editor yet. (too many other things to work on)
I think I will now, this is enjoyable to watch, at work at the moment so I will be checking this out more fully tonight.
