2018 Developer Updates

Dear Reallusion Developers,

Happy New Year! We hope you’re having a great 2018 so far, and we’d like to thank you for your long-time contributions in building up the Reallusion Marketplace to what it is today. We’d like to take this opportunity to share our Marketplace Renovation plan for this upcoming year. We will be upgrading everything from the user interface to the backend system mechanisms. The original intention of the Marketplace remains the same: to provide users with a smooth and convenient way to purchase content both as individual items and as part of combo packs from a trusted community of developers. We’re providing these enhancements to also further update the tools that developers have available to publish and sell their content.

Marketplace Store Renew

Frontend layout enhancement and purchase experience improvement are the two top priorities of the first stage of the Marketplace Renovation.

In addition to a more modern UI design and Responsive Web Design (RWD) support, we believe a good thumbnail can help developers grab the attention of users prior to looking into product pages. It is for this reason that we intend to enlarge the default thumbnail size that will display in the store front.
Search with autocomplete mechanisms and filter mechanisms such like category (genre), free, trial download, and top artists will be supported to help users find what they want more easily.
There will be a Character Creator portal for users to easily find character-related content including ccCloth, ccAcc, ccShoes, ccGloves, and ccHair. A shortcut for these content items will also be available under the iClone category, and the system will automatically display those items under both iClone and CC categories. The benefit of this is that you no longer need to produce two separate formats (e.g. ccCloth and iCloth) just in order to get exposure in both iClone and CC categories.

Main Changes to the Existing Packs You Should Be Aware of:

Thumbnail: In order to achieve a higher display quality, we highly recommend developers convert their product thumbnails to 512x650 pixels. However, during the transmitting period (~April/E) you will still be allowed to upload 240x305 thumbnails. 240x305 pixels thumbnail can be easily created by using preview images (old spec: 300x300 pixels). Thumbnail image size:

512x650 pixels (suggested)
240x305 pixels (workaround)
110x140 pixels (will be framed automatically to fit the new interface. Since the image won't look good, we will relay this content to the last pages of each category.)
*Please follow the Commercialization Guide to make new thumbnails.

Product Page: will be changed to dark text on a white background, so if you utilize html for colorful text, remember to double check how it looks after the renovation is complete.
Personal Portal: Personal Portal (example) will be removed, please keep all updated info in the Personal Store (example).

Renovation Timeline:

1st-Stage Launch (May --> July): Frontend layout enhancement and purchase experience improvement
2nd-Stage Launch (Q3): Sales Promotion mechanism implementation, Personal & Featured Store front & mechanism update
3rd-Stage Launch (Q4): Implement WebGL for better motion preview

Distinguished Member Group: Administrators Last Active: 2 Years Ago Posts: 1.8K, Visits: 11.2K	How to Change Thumbnails Easily and Efficiently during Transition Period (~ April/E) If you want to change thumbnail images, you have to Marketplace > Manage My Store > Edit Item > Click the "Edit" Button > Replace "Thumbnail" > Click the "Save and Publish". Now we provide you a fast and easy way to replace your thumbnails for the preparation of Marketplace Renovation. Go to "Edit Item", "Edit Pack" or "Set Discount Price". Take "Edit Item" for example, the thumbnail which size isn't 512 x 650 pixels or 240 x 305 pixels will be framed by black. Remember: 240 x 305 pixels is the tolerant size during transition period (~April/E) only! You can choose to replace the thumbnail by clicking the "Replace" button or dragging the image there. The Reallusion Team has been working on improvements to the new Marketplace, and one of the mechanism updates is the availability of trial versions of packs. The current constraint prevents packs from being trialled, and this has led to Developers receiving complaints from customers. We are sorry for this limitation, but also grateful to hear your feedback which helps us keep improving! In the new Marketplace design, Developers can enable up to 10 items per pack for trial download, and users are allowed to download 10 items and 3 packs per day. Note: We will observe the daily operation after launch, and may adjust the limitation in the future. The settings in the Management Backend will be ready ~~next week~~ on the launch date* (updated on July 27th). You can start to select items for trial in the Create Pack & Edit Pack section, and this settings will be effective when new Marketplace launches. Edited 6 Years Ago by Miranda (RL)
