Is there any way to Export UE4 Rig Character from 3D Exchange 7? I know it's possible in CC2 but I am finding a way to do the same from 3D Exchange.

I believe the UE4 FBX export from CC2 and iClone is a little different than the 3DX export. CC2 and iClone will actually change bone names to match UE4, while 3DX only matches structure.

In either case, you need 3DX Pipeline installed to enable the FBX export.

Can you confirm if this is possible with any non standard human? I mean, does it work the same as exporting a CC Character from Character Creator?

I'm asking because I have the 3dx 6 pipeline which doesn't allow this (only CC characters are exported with UE4's rig). If IClone v7 can export characters with UE4 i would definitely buy them.

Thanks in advance!

CC characters can be exported from iClone with UE4 bone naming convention. I doubt it will rename the bones of a DAZ or other type though. But I will check. I would gladly be mistaken on that one! Smile

I have just tested it with iC7.02. It can export CC Character with UE4 Rig (including morphs) in FBX format. It's working like a charm in UE4. I also tested exported CC Character with UE4 Animation Starter Kit, the animations work flawlessly with the imported CC Character in UE4.
But I didn't try the non-CC Character(e.g. G5, G6) or any non-standard iC character to export to UE4. May be I'll try today and let you know.

When exporting from iClone 7 or CC2 as "UE4" only CC characters get bones renamed. It does not seem to rename DAZ bones, for instance. Also. Not all bones get renamed. Just the ones needed for the default UE4 skeleton to be recognized.

So you may need to do some retargeting in UE4 with models from other sources.

EDIT:
I did not try earlier generation iClone avatars.

So we can confirm that this only seems to work for CC characters? That's a shame, but thank you for testing. It would be awesome if IC or 3DX could convert any non standard human to the basic UE4 Rig Structure
