Hi I have attached a book to the spine of my avatar so it moves with my character has he walks. I now want to release the book when the character has put it down. but when i do itdoesnt release at the correct point it releases it completely. Any Ideas. Have i done something wrong

Instead of releasing it, just attach it to something else. You can just switch attachements.

tried it and it does attach to the table but it attaches from the begining of the sequence not at the correct frame on the timeline. I have also tried putting in a keyframe before the switch and it doesnt help

Ahhh.... I think if you use link instead of attach. At some point the attach behavior changed. You used to be able to do it with attach. So try linking the book to the avatar, and then unlink or link it to the table. Attach is really for accessories, and it seems that may be even more so now.

Yes, I believe LINK is what he's looking for.

"Attach" basically makes it a sub-prop.

You can release the link without having to link it to anything else.  It can be keyframed.
