I have an ACER Aspire laptop with a Pentium Dual Core with 2 threads only and no hyper-threading.
If I get an HP ProBook that has an i5 Dual Core with 4 threads and hyper-threading, will I see much if any improvement in performance?
The two machines are exactly the same in all other aspects.
Both machines have 8GB of RAM.
Or would I be better served getting a machine that can hold more memory and not worry about the CPU?

My quick opinion is to go with the HP ProBook. To be honest I didn't really put any research into that answer because...
MORE IMPORTANTLY: If you're doing iClone, what is the GPU on the laptops?
iClone 7... Character Creator... Substance Designer/Painter... Blender... Audacity... Desktop (homebuilt) - Windows 10, Ryzen 9 3900x CPU, GTX 1080 GPU (8GB), 32GB RAM, Asus X570 Pro motherboard, 2TB SSD, terabytes of disk space, dual monitors. Laptop - Windows 10, MSI GS63VR STEALTH-252, 16GB RAM, GTX 1060 (6GB), 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD

You wont see a very significant difference between these two for iClone. What is important, is that your machine be 64 bit and have an Nvidia or AMD GPU. Stay away from on-chip graphics. Gaming computers with separate graphics chips are best for Crazytalk and iClone, I believe.
