Would it be possible to do a 360 movie for the Oculas or Samsung device? It would open up a new avenue as there's little content out there for the new technology.

Totally agree!  VR is going to be as big a breakthrough as the original iPhone.  Jumping on this technology now will allow the entire iClone community to be cutting edge.

It gets very complicated fast,
I actually can render 360 spherical frames in Carrara and frequently make avi I loop to use on iClone skys but even those few frames 8000 x 4000 pixels are a massive avi it takes virtualdub a long time to render, getting it into mp4 format about impossible as just too big, runs out of memory and no other video compositor I have will even support those sizes, so making a movie would need a specialist compositor with good compression compatible with the youtube metadata which I also cannot do.
So just Reallusion plonking a spherical camera into the next build is only one small step.
They would also need to redo the whole render process to address this.

@wendy
it just needs the camera and a equirectangular output compatible with the youtube meta injector.
maybe reallusion can talk with the makers of skybox and swing a deal.
it certainly would take iclone up a few notches, and generate tons of sales.

the alternative is after effects/3ds max or c4d/element 3d/skybox/adobe media encoder/YTmeta injector.
this way full scenes can be brought into AE and outputted to equirectangular.
really not as hard as it sounds, but time consuming.

you can see a few sky examples in the freebie section

believe me that's the hardest bit, I have yet to render an mp4 I can inject metadata into, tried every thing under the sun in encoding settings in multiple compositers
following these guidelines

Im not in the know but I would expect a 360 export option in the near future (those martin boys are always riding the leading edge of the future).  Muvizu offered a 360 render addon for 6 bucks a month ago and that seems to be the direction everyone is headed.

p.s. heres gabes post about how he put it together - https://forum.reallusion.com/274810/iClone---VR
