It has taken me quite awhile to compose this question because I didn't understand the terms well enough to ask the proper question. I believe I've figured out how to use the terms correctly through the series of attempts to accomplish my goal below. I believe I can now phrase my so far unsuccessful aim as loading all 8 angles of a single pose using the sprite editor.
Despite attempted explanation of the term "poses" in the manual (with pictures on a wheel?!), I couldn't understand what they were and how they differ from the templates. Now I see that you import templates into the sprite editor for an individual character to give them more than one sprite option and the options are what are called "poses."
Okay, but now how do I Add a new pose with all 8 angles? I have 8 png images of shirts, one at each angle. If I click Add and All Angles, I can select and load the 8 files and all angles show up in the sprite editor. I click transform all poses and position the angle 0 correctly. I close sprite editor and turn character to 45 degrees. At that angle, the angle 0 shirt shows up (instead of the angle 45 shirt) and it is not transformed.
So now I see Transform all poses doesn't fix all the angles when you fix one (that would be useful), it moves all the different "poses" at one angle which in my case here are different shirts at angle zero. I don't want transform all poses checked because putting one shirt in the proper place messes up the location of any shirt already placed correctly.
Okay, so I start over and in sprite editor I click Add and choose All Angles. I load my 8 files which show up in the sprite editor. However if I open the window that shows the angles, they are all the zero angle shirt. There doesn't seem to be a way to indicate which angle in the sprite editor corresponds to the angles in the angle window. In fact, it would appear that all of my 8 angles in the sprite editor are being treated like a different "pose" and each pose has the same image for all angles.
Okay, I can't seem to load all angles properly, so I try one at a time. I start over and click Add, and choose just the current angle. My character is positioned at zero so I add the picture of the shirt at zero. Now the angle window only shows a picture for the zero angle and all the other boxes are empty. Okay, so maybe I can now load the 45 degree picture. Nope, that just creates a new pose with only a picture in the 45 slot in the angle window with all the other spots empty.
I also tried following these instructions:
http://manual.reallusion.com/CrazyTalk_Animator_2/ENU/Pro_and_Std/03_Actor/Customing_Your_Actor_With_Actor_Composer/Creating_G2_Character.htmReplacing each angle in a pose one at a time. This seemed to work! I had one new pose in the sprite editor and the sprite angle window showed the correct pictures for each of the 8 angles. My character was wearing the correct shirt picture at each angle. Then I went back into Stage mode and the new shirt was gone. I went back to Composer mode and back to the sprite editor. My new pose was in the sprite editor but all the angles had gone back to angle zero.
This is really frustrating. How do I load my 8 angles into one pose?
Thank you for the help!
