I have a problem on a weight map.

I am using G5 eddie basketball avatar. I am adding a weight map to the shorts.  (http://www.reallusion.com/ContentStore/ccdproduct.aspx?contentid=AIC551CIENU012020140910003)
1st I added the collision shape to the avatar and edit the shorts weight map in PS.
2nd I added a running motion to the avatar in Frame Mode and it works fine.

However when I play it Realtime Mode the cloth still goes through the avatars leg. Now I edit the map a few times to gray some of the white areas but still the cloth breaks through.
Is there a way to fine tune this specific weight map

For the final result, you should depend on the FRAME mode.

Slower movements also tend to help because the cloth has time to adjust.

If you need fast action, consider recording the action much slower rate and then speeding it up in post production.

If you do that (slower motion), do you also need to reduce "gravity" by a corresponding amount?

I'm thinking you'll need to, or the cloth will fall too fast when you speed up your video in post.

You actually have to go higher contrast on the weight map.  Blacker blacks and darker grays.  Then - yes - do a lot of experimentation with the settings.  But I found making sure you have a high-contrast weight map - even with a gradient - is essential.

I struggle with this all the time.  I have also used the collision editor to help expand the ratio.  I don't get enough time in front of the computer these days to practice, but I have also heard that the contrast ratio is important.

If the cloth you are trying to weight map is a separate piece, you CAN turn off the soft cloth once recorded in by frame mode.  That way you can see it before rendering at the Full Speed, without recalculating the soft cloth parameters each time you press play.
