I learned how to do 2D on my own (well with video help of course) but then I saw 3D and now I really want to do this. I'm learning with iClone 5 standard, but I also have iClone 6 PRO now which is even far more confusing to me, and as such I have no idea how to do ANYTHING with it.

But, as I just said I am so new at this that I have a very steep upward climb ahead of me just to reach the novice level. I have learned a few of the basics and I have even successfully created a few faces and now even aged one of them to look very close to one of my 2D characters.

However ... iClone content store offers basically nothing when it comes to male hair. And nothing at all when it comes to a mustache. I found one called a naval officers hair, and I did purchase and download it. BUT it still looks really artificial and the part is on the wrong side. ALSO ... There is no way that I can get it to fit my character properly. It sits too high up on the head and when I adjust it lower, the skull begins to show. When I adjust it to either side it enters the skull on the opposite side. the best adjustment that I can make to this one is to have it remain slightly wider than the head, and the space between the hair and the head can be seen.

And there is absolutely nothing when it comes to facial hair and especially a mustache, and my character has one.

I tried drawing one but it came out ridiculous looking. I don't have photoshop because it's too expensive. What I have is corel paint shop pro 6 and it's nothing like photoshop.

So is there anyone who can make a head of hair for me to match the style of my character and a mustache as well?

If anyone can do this for me, I can send you a picture of my cartoon character as well as a picture of the iClone G5 character that I created to match the cartoon.

I could really use the help.

Thanks
Rampa

You should look for hair in the Marketplace as well. That's where users sell their goods.

http://city.reallusion.com/market/iclone

Do a search for hair, and you will find a bunch, and some nice free ones as well.

Reallusion has not done much with facial hair, but you might find a few examples in the Marketplace.

Welcome, and have fun! Smile

Sorry, I shaved my beard off about a month ago and it is still growing back. As for hair on the head, I could use some of that too.
Really, I have no advice on that other than that there is supposed to be some great hair on the new IC6 but if you had that you wouldn't be posting here with us.
Wish i could be more help. Happy New Year and hope you had a Very Merry Christmas.

The quickest & easiest way to adjust Hair position in iC5 is to:

1) Use the Tool Bar Camera View Drop-down / Face.

2) Then, Tool Bar / Scale  Gizmo, Dragging the Yellow towards & away from you. That Scales the whole hair, to fit. Minor adjustments can be made by dragging the X, Y & Z Axis.

Screenshot to be added.

BTW - If you're new to 3D Animation, you need to start with the very basics;

Welcome to the Forum,

You'll find a lot of Video Tutorials by Reallusion & Forum Members.

However the question of "But where do I start?" still remains.

IMO, the best way to start (Others may differ), is to go through Stuckon3D's Free Video Tutorials, which cover iClone Basics. These are based on iClone 4, which don't include the many new Features in iC5.

Warlord's Purchase Tutorial Book also based on iC4 but with iC5 new Features added, goes into the basics in more depth, with his own Content provided for individual Project-based Tutorials.

Mark's advanced Free Tutorials cover specific "How do I do this" requests, in a User friendly manner.

Thanks Colour.

I've used all of those adjustments and then used the fine tune on the right, but the best I can figure out is the hair that I purchased just will not correctly fit the G5 Chuck character. I do know that when I changed the face on Chuck to the one that I made, it didn't change the size of the head, so the hair just will not work.

If I keep and use that hairstyle that I purchased, the best I can do is make the setting very dark so as not to see the blotches of skull showing so prevalently.

I have been all through that content store for days now and there is nothing really available in hair. My characters are news commentators and the primary character has 60's style hair, the same as all commentators did back then. All these new hairstyles for characters now (at least where the males are concerned) are wild hair styles that just won't fit my primary characters age and personality.

My entire purpose with getting into 3D is to duplicate a skit that I now do on my website in 2D. I have no desire to become a 3D animation specialist. THAT is something for someone far younger than myself to pursue. Once I have this primary character setup along with the other 3 (which will be MUCH easier to do) I will put them into a studio setting and leave them that way with the only changes being made for future videos will be to change the audio script.

That's ALL that I want to do with iClone.

I used this forum because I could not find any other place to solicit anyone who can make just the one head of hair for me as well as a mustache for my character. That's ALL that I am looking for. Anything else I need to do I can figure out by watching the various tutorial videos.

Thank you for the welcome Rampa,

As I replied to Colour, I have been all through the marketplace and I could not find any hairstyle that fits the type of character that I am setting up. He's a 60's style news commentator and his hair reflects that style.

That is why I came to this forum, because I could not find any other place to post a request for someone who can make the hairstyle that I am looking for.

Also there is absolutely nothing in the marketplace for mustaches. And my character needs THAT as well because my 2D character that I am attempting to duplicate in 3D has one. Smile

As I said to Colour, I am not looking to become a highly skilled 3D animator. I'm too old to pursue a new path in life. Smile

I'm just looking to duplicate in 3D a skit that I now do on my website in 2D. Once I have my characters setup in a studio setting, I will leave them that way with the only primary changes being made for future videos being audio and head and arm movements. That's all.

So if you know of a place where I can find someone who can make just one realistic hair for me in the style I'm looking for, as well as a mustache for my character, I would appreciate it.

Thanks
Cricky

How about this Hair, from iC5 Content.

Done in hurry. Needs Scaling & adjustment.

I've used Chuck G5 . You'll prob get an immediate exact fit, using Trey G3. You can also Modify Head to fit & remodel face, ears, nose, eyes etc, in iC5.

Trey might have a News Reader's suit.

Hi Cricky,

Thanks for replying.

Here are 4 pictures. 1st is my cartoon character. 2nd is my iClone character that I made using G5 Chuck. As you can see the hair does not sit correctly no matter HOW MUCH I try to adjust it. Also the part is on the wrong side. 3rd is a picture of the hairstyle I'm looking to have made. 4th is the mustache.
