You could be missing the correct C++ runtime components for your type of system. (x86 or x64).
 
Try installing the following (as applicable)

Thanks that was missing. Windows afterward did 73 more updates. maybe a check step during install that it has been loaded, such as direct x 9. btw my avg graphic card is capable of running  direct x 11

Now the the goods.....

4 sec to compile the stock outdoor scence. the cpu temp avg was 14 Celeuis ( 63 F) room temp was 68 F. I am also running water cooler from corsair H80. using provided codec for mp4. Last summer with 6 core air cooled, was only able to run during cooler evening temps and then sometimes stopped due to overheat. 

there was another issue with the media player and that was fixed in the 73 upds.

I'm very curious how iClone gets on with all eight cores? Have you looked to see the processor load on each core?

There is a lot of uncertainty in the forum around whether or not iClone really benefits from multiple cores.

Intel people with 4 or 6 cores should chime in as well.

Iclone doesn't really make a good use of 8 cores, I don't think I saw a lot of difference while working on heavy scenes, still it will help, at lest for the fact that you can run a lot of different apps at once.. I think the GPU and then the HD will be the best upgrades if you are looking to speed up Iclone.
