Yes...AND A WHOLE LOT CHEAPER!!!
SitePal charges by the month to use it's product, when CrazyTalk is a one time charge and does the same thing AND MUCH, MUCH MORE!
SitePal is based on obsolete technology that is now generally available. It no longer has it's NEW-TO-MARKET, cutting edge appeal, yet their business model is still based on the 90's, not the 21st century. I'm amazed they're still in business, but IGNORANCE of the marketplace is what they rely on, and their customer base is extremely ignorant of where technology is today.

I would like to know this as well. I am very interested in all of this. I see alot of educational usages from all of the products, and in time will be producing a lot of educational material.
But my current project is making a chatbot, to act as a chatterbot. Which is the search that lead me here. Taking a flash program and making it talk back.
I have alot of AIML files ready to go, and have tested it, but without a face and voice, it is kind of dry.
I was hoping to get a sitepal alternative. Google led me here, and I am starting to see why. Infact I am seeing more than just chat bot usages.
So if you have any idea, on how to add a input box, that would be great! I would like to read/see that tutorial.

Hello,
CT5 does have a text-to-speech feature that enables you to type text for voice track.
Sitepal basically generates a code for you to embed the flash character movie clip on your webpage which CT5 can also do in addition to CT having MANY more customizable features.
With some html/actionscript skills in flash, you can definitely make something perform for varied responses. I could be wrong, but I think it's a matter of the script calling for another flv character movie loaded when text input is entered, or option selection is clicked, and then replacing the preceding clip (typically via a loading swf). It is certainly achievable and I have seen this done in flash with predefined variables which enable you to customize what movie response (flv) is loaded in reference to the word/phrase it is associated to. Again, this would require some knowledge in flash creation, but isn't too difficult. I recommend www.flashkit.com as a good reference in achieving this. There might be a html/javascript solution but I can't imagine it not having a loading swf to which the designated CT clip is loaded.
Here is a link of an example of virtual bartenders which demonstrates this (only example that comes to mind off the top of my head also featuring a standby motion, however the loaded flv files contain no audio, and WARNING - it is a bit risque.

Type in any word....wave, laugh, jumping jacks...etc, and if there is an associated clip to the input word there is a response.
