I think that the missing a iClone WOW! movie take source from still little interest in artists. I don't know why? The software is super. One iClone HIT movie may bring more marketing benefits like expansive advertising.

I suggest announcing (by Reallusion) a movie contest with rewards.
What do you think about them?

My sentiments exactly.

However ?ow?films take time, the best animation I have found on the web can take months, even years to make.

Machinima films take a great deal of work from conception and script to final production and score.

I have been part of "The Movies" community for some time and there are many really talented directors that make some amazing films with a game?

To think what these people could do with iClone is amazing, however there is quite a steep learning curve with iClone. With "The Movies" you are making movies in minutes and this leads to the director getting their ideas down quickly.

From what I have seen people provide movies/videos to suite there audience. Unfortunately the attention span of many internet users is around 5 minutes and such people cater for this.

I am one of many that want to produce amazing full length films that will stretch, challenge and push the limits of not only the software but the director as well.

My next project is something of this ilk.

Capemedia

Machinima for me.

That's a solid post.
Amongst other projects "The Gate Of Reallusion" here is only one 5th created after 4 months. One scene took two weeks very long days and the final output is only 5m 47s and some frames took over nine minutes to render and this is not exactly an Amstrad 1512.
( remember those!!! )

Rather than a competition for iclone users, how about a competition for those who can not afford it in the first place with a licence or discount voucher???
Maybe get them to write a short play for iclone.
State how theyd use the cameras.
What lighting they'd use and why.
What personalities they'd give their characters.(Hair, eyes, clothes, faces)
and how they'd dress them.
What location each scene would require.

All of these incorporate elements of iClone. The applicants would be people who were bothered and not half hearted.

good thoughts everyone, the problem for many of us is that we do this solo, so it take a long time ro create the sets, identifying and getting the right voice actors. The longest i've done is the Tales of Gwaeold trilogy - this is basically 25 minute video, with voice help from a numer of coolclones members. But even then it took me 3 months to get it done and i found myself getting bored with it by the time i got to the 3rd installment and took short cuts just to say i finished it.

I've seen works done with the Movies, and tried using it myself but the canned approached turned me off quickly. I use it mainly now for creating faces and using the sets for background scenes

So often (in my case) it is easier to opting to do short clips rather than full lenght. I think a collaborative approach might be helpful where different users work on certain scenes tc..
