| I was having trouble getting started with DrawPlus, and I bought their rather expensive--but rather good--little manual. Now that I have a decent way to learn about the program, I intend to spend more time with it.
In the interest of giving back to our community, I am tentatively offering to answer questions about using DrawPlus. Let's see how well that works out.
To ask me a question, keep it short and simple, and don't expect an instant answer. You can ask me two kinds of questions: simple how-to questions and simple questions about DrawPlus's capabilities.
Please support this offer by correcting me if I make a mistake--and certainly, if you know the answer before I can answer, please jump in and do so.

| Dang, I find I must start off by asking a question of my own.
When I draw a curve with a pressure-sensitive brush, I can get a pressure-sensitive taper at the beginning, but never at the end.
How do I get a taper at the end of a curve, also?

I cannot find a direct way to get a taper at the end of my stroke, however, Draw Plus has a neat interface called Pressure Studio that lets you adjust the pressure response of an existing curve. (1) Draw a pressure-sensitive curve, using max pressure at the end of the stroke. (2) Select the curve with the pointer tool. (3) In the Pressure Studio graph at the bottom of the righthand panel, adjust the pressure response of max pressure so it goes to zero rather than a high value. This will taper the end of the stroke.

| | I will ask a question... Are you using DrawPlus version 4 or the new version, 5? Do you know if version 5 is compatible with CTA? |

| I have found DPx4 to be compatible with CTA so that is why I upgraded to DPx5.
So far I have found DPx5 to be compatible with CTA with one exception.
At the moment I have a support ticket in to Serif about this an am awaiting a reply.
It has to do with the DPx5 Flash Export of a keyframe animation with layers.
With DPx4 I can create roll-able eyes without a problem. I upgraded to DPx5 and tried to do the same but no luck. The flash export screwed up the layer order and the mask was not working when I imported it into CTA. I had expected it to work as it had with DPx4 but something changed. Either I did something wrong or it will hopefully be fixed soon.
I'll post any feedback I get from Serif.
Jeff

| | Hi Jeff That's interesting news about flash export. I wasn't aware of this change in DrawPlus x5. Thank you for the notification and please update us if you get a reply from Serif.

JeffJeff, Thanks for the information. I just got a chance to read your post because I have not logged in for a long time. I hope your problem gets fixed. I ended up purchasing DPx5 since it was the latest of the line. It will take me a while to learn the product, but I hope to be able to create my on CTA Cartoon Characters soon. |

| Hello, I am looking at getting drawplus5 and I am wondering if you found out it is good for making flash files and importing into CTA?
I had an email from RL that said I could use popvideo for making animated props but I guess they just mean video clips as props. I am very interested in making characters and animated props do you think Drawplus is the way to go? of course its a lot cheaper than flash.
thxs!
