I saw these posts about WIDE SCREEN and wanted to share a coupe of things. NOT ALL WIDESCREEN FORMATS ARE EQUAL!
1. In addition to screen resolution, EG; widescreen, (16X9), NTSC (the standard used in the USA for 4X3 (the square box) You must keep in mind PIXEL ASPECT RATIO.
2. Ok, you're asking what the $#@% is pixel aspect ratio. Pixel aspect is the size of each pixel that makes a screen resolution. For example, standard video, 720 pixels across X 480 pixels down uses an aspect ratio of .9. That is the width of the pixels that make the image on your TV. I believe that IClone only supports a pixel aspect .9. So your widescreen really isn't widescreen. It's LETTERBOX! That is where you have a normal 4X3 image (basically a square box) with black bars at the top and bottom to make it look like widescreen.
3. Widescreen at 720X480 uses a pixel aspect of 1.2, not .9. So when it's viewed on a widescreen TV it's going to stretch unless you can tell ICone to render with the correct pixel aspect ratio for the widescreen format, which is 1.2. Your characters are going to look like they fell off of the diet bandwagon. They will be short and fat.
4. None of this matters if you don't plan to output to video or DVD. If you plan to view your finished work on a television, it will matter greatly! Just something to keep in mind.
5. Sorry to be so technical but I don't know any other way to explain it. This may be well beyond the IClone crowed but it may be useful to some. I hope so!

Hello Tom, You're certainly in the right crowd to be discussing this. More and more Machinima filmmakers and iClone users are exporting their content for viewing on DVD and video through Widescreen 16x9. Any tips you can share regarding output for TV and Widescreen is much appreciated by the community. Please continue to share your knowledge with the forum.
